Hot Spiced Cider Print E-mail

Warm and sweet on the tongue, the fragrance of hot cider will fill your entire home! From Williams-Sonoma Kids Parties.

Image INGREDIENTS
Unfiltered apple juice 2 qt
Light brown sugar 2 tablespoons firmly packed
Cinnamon 4 sticks, plus sticks for garnish (optional)
Ground nutmeg ½ teaspoon
Ground allspice ½ teaspoon
Orange peel 1 strip, 4 inches long
Whole cloves 6


DIRECTIONS
1) In a large pot, combine the apple juice, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, and allspice. Pierce the orange peel with the cloves and add to the pot. Bring just to a boil over medium-high heat, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes.
2) Divide the cider evenly among 8 mugs. Garnish each with a cinnamon stick. Serve hot.

Serves 8

Serving Suggestions: To coat the rim of each mug with cinnamon sugar before filling, rub the cut edge of an apple wedge along the rim, and then dip the rim into a saucer of cinnamon sugar. Or, garnish each mug with a twist of orange peel.
